Frequently Asked Questions

Where is your program located?

Our TRIO Upward Bound Program is through Washington State University, our main office is located in Moses Lake, WA at the Moses Lake High School (MLHS).

Is this a scholarship program?

No, this is not a scholarship program.

However, our college prep coaches assist students with finding and applying for scholarships.

If I have been accepted into the program, do I need to reapply each year?

If you have been accepted into the TRIO Upward Bound Program, you do not need to reapply each year.

How do I know if I’m eligible?

Applicants must be the following:

  • You are a first-generation college student (neither parent nor guardian has a bachelor’s degree);
  • You are low-income
  • You are a U.S Citizen

All services are provided at no cost to scholars.

What are the program requirements?

In order to maintain an active status in the program you must be able to make a time commitment to being active within the program, which includes:

  • Meet regularly – Meeting times will be communicating to you by UB staff, may include weekly & monthly college appointments (or more often as requested or needed)
  • Actively participate in; college, scholarship, test, and financial preparation
  • Utilize academic support via mentoring and academic coaching/tutoring as needed/required
  • Participate in college and career exploration activities, preparatory activities and field trips
  • Participate in academic and cultural enrichment activities
  • Participate in the Summer Enrichment Program held in the local area, and/or various campuses across Washington State, and/or beyond… where you may live in residence halls, attend classes, visit departments, experience college life activities, and explore the surrounding area
  • Complete summer college prep activities as required and communicated to you by UB staff
